crosman 1377 vs 2298 pump air rifles?? which one?
im wondering wich gun i shuld get, the backpacker 2298, or the american classic 1377.
they both are at 500 fps since im in canada =(, the backpacker has a high caliber, the american classic is a pistol so its smaller, the backpacker can be taken down but it doesnt have a pistol grip. im going to try to take small game like pigeons and smaller birds, and target practice, which gun is better? can someone tell me some pros and cons and i really need to know which gun is more durable, and what experiences have you had with these guns?
If they're both under 500fps....the 1377 pistol would not be too good for pigeon-size birds...maybe good enough for sparrows or Starlings (Under 15 yards). The 2298 if it's a rifle and shooting .22 pellets and giving you <500fps will have more impact energy. So I would say go for the rifle (And keep shots under 15 yards and head-shots only).....that said, both <500fps airguns are not that good for small game hunting.
I have the 1377 pistol...don't have any experience with a 2298 (Couldn't even find it on the internet).
I just found the 2289 Backpacker....not 2298 Backpacker. The 1377 and 2289 are pistols (The 2289 just have a stock...so it's called a carbine). So they'll both practically put out the same power...really not enough for small bird hunting...the carbine would be a bit more accurate due to you can have two hands around the handle and the butt of the stock on your shoulder.
