Could I make my own Duck hunting boat?
I want to get a duck hunting boat called the "Marsh Rat"...but it's expensive almost 700 bucks, so I have a lot of scrap wood near my house, and I was wondering if I could make my own, it's 9'3" by 43" by 14"....the biggest size of wood you can get is 8x4, So, if I could cut it up to make 3 8'x1' 4" and apply some sort of sealant to the wood, then add hinges to it to make the hull (put Caulk in between the cracks) and then make the cockpit almost the same way...would it work?

Get cheapass 1/4" plywood, and Gorilla-glue 9/16" staple it onto 1"X2" (or whatever) skeletoning, then cover everything inside and out with non-finish coat fiberglass resin w/hardner mixed in correctly. This will leave a surface sticky enough to hold fiberglass cloth in place for painting on more resin, working out the bubbles with a disposable paintbrush. At least one layer of fiberglass cloth, and two is better. You can sand smooth the edges. When satisfied, use finish coat resin with your choice of colorants added, for a nice appearance and non-sticky feel, but it contains wax, so that will be the final coat.
In case you missed it, this creates a fiberglass boat in the shape you arranged the cheap plywood to be in. Fasten "seats", 5/8" plywood fishing boat motor transom, etc, with more Gorilla glue and resin, onto reinforcing blocks of plywood or more 1"X2"s as desired, BEFORE the final waxy coat!
